Thank you for visiting!
I'd like to introduce myself and give you a bit of personal
history and the secret of my artistic motivation.
I am a native of Lawton, Oklahoma, where several of my ancestors
settled
before statehood. My husband’s military career enabled us to
live and visit
many places in the US and overseas. Moving every few years
across country,
overseas, and back with children born along the way, has
contributed to an
exciting and challenging life.
I particularly enjoyed our tour in Turkey, which gave me the
opportunity to view the classical sculpture of ancient Greece
and increased my interest in this art form. Although I have
dabbled in art most of my life and have always appreciated
three-dimensional form, this experience solidified what has
become my raison d'être.
For the last fifteen years, my family and I have lived in
Colorado and now
consider Monument, a small town north of Colorado Springs,
home. Since
settling here, I have practiced my art, studying with several
excellent sculptors at the Fechin Institute in Taos, New
Mexico, the Scottsdale Artist School in Scottsdale,
Arizona and the Loveland Academy of Fine Art in Loveland,
Colorado.
I want to create sculpture with which people can identify, to
provide a catalyst for reflections and pleasant memories. I
believe that we need beauty in our lives for emotional and
social well-being. My goal is to create art that has beauty
and integrity in the craftsmanship and design.
At this time of my life, children are my preferred subjects. I
have been a schoolteacher; have worked with children in
volunteer activities; and have children and grandchildren of my
own; it's normal that I feel a connection with them. These
years of observation have enabled my work to capture some of the
naturalness and spontaneity of childhood.
